Top 10 Questions about Cooper Complete Supplements

Print Article

We enjoy answering your questions about Cooper Complete Supplements. Below are the 10 most commonly asked questions about our vitamins and supplements.

    1. Does Omega-3 have a fishy taste?
While we can’t promise you’ll never experience a fishy taste when you take Cooper Complete Advanced Omega-3, the fish oil used in our formulation goes through additional processing to increase the concentration of the beneficial long chain omega-3 fatty acids. These measures also help reduce the likelihood you’ll experience a fishy after taste.
    2. Do I need to refrigerate Advanced Omega-3?
It is not necessary to refrigerate Cooper Complete Omega-3. However, our office has found that refrigeration of softgels dramatically reduces the stickiness often encountered with softgels, particularly in warmer, more humid environments. Be sure to tightly close lids on vitamins and supplements you put into the refrigerator, since the refrigerator is humid in addition to being cold.
    3. Where are Cooper Complete supplements made?
Ingredients in Cooper Complete nutritional supplements are made in the United States, but are sourced from around the globe. The raw materials are shipped to the United States where they undergo extensive testing to ensure purity and potency. Once tested to ensure the raw materials meet quality standards, the ingredients are blended into our custom formulations here in the United States.
    4. Should I take a multivitamin, and if so, which one?
This is one of the most common vitamin questions we receive and the answer might surprise you. Whether you should take a multivitamin depends upon your diet. If you consistently follow the MyPlate (formerly the Food Pyramid) recommendations which includes eating 1 1/2 to 2 cups of fruit and 2 to 2 1/2 cups of vegetables each day (in addition to whole grains, low- and no-fat dairy, etc.) you probably don’t need a multivitamin. On the other hand, if your diet is often lacking, it makes sense to take a multivitamin. Within the Cooper Complete product line, we offer multivitamins with and without iron. Typically, women in their childbearing years who have a monthly cycle should take a multivitamin containing iron while men and post-menopausal women choose an iron-free formulation. Men and women (of all ages) who exercise five or more hours per week at 80 percent or more of their maximum heart rate should also take a vitamin containing iron. Everyone else will take an “iron-free” multivitamin unless otherwise advised by their physician or health care provider. Our multivitamins with iron contain:

        • 18 milligrams
        • 100 percent of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for women 19-50 years is 18 mg per day.
        • The RDA for adult men and women 51 years and older is 8 mg/day
    5. I take Cooper Complete Original Formulation. Why do you recommend taking twice daily?
The eight tablet daily serving is split into four tablets at breakfast and dinner as our body eliminates many water-soluble vitamins within 12 hours, and this helps keep these vitamins at their highest levels. For optimal absorption, and to reduce the potential for an upset stomach, your meals should contain protein, fat and carbohydrates. We also offer a multivitamin and mineral formula, Cooper Complete Basic One, if you do not consistently take all eight tablets.
    6. What’s the difference between the Cooper Complete Original and Basic One multivitamin and mineral formulations?
Our Cooper Complete Original is the most comprehensive product available, including all ingredients in Basic One, CoQU10 and more. Basic One is Cooper Clinic’s baseline recommendation for optimal health. This chart has a side-by-side comparison of the two multivitamin and mineral formulations.
    7. Do I need to take CoQ10?
CoQ10, otherwise known as coenzyme Q10, is typically recommended for those on a statin medication to reduce cholesterol levels. A common side effect of statin medications is muscle soreness, aches and pains. CoQ10 is often recommended to help combat the side effects of these statin medications. Physician recommendations are typically for patients to take 100 mg one to two times daily.
    8. Why isn’t calcium included in your multivitamins?
Calcium requirements vary by gender and age. In addition, while we are a supplement line, we practice a “food first” philosophy and believe vitamins and supplements are meant to augment a healthy diet. Depending upon your gender, age and how much calcium you consume in your typical diet, you may or may not need to take calcium. The amount of calcium you need may be very different than that of someone else. Cooper Clinic recommends the following daily calcium intake:

      • Women, ages 19-50: 1,000 mg
      • Women, ages 51+: 1,200 mg
      • Men, ages 19-70: 1,000 mg
      • Men, ages 71+: 1,200 mg
    9. Is it safe to take more than one Cooper Complete supplement?
All Cooper Complete Nutritional Supplements are formulated to work together. Your individual diet will help determine which products are best for you, although Cooper Clinic recommends people take a multivitamin and omega-3 fatty acids every day. Depending upon your individual health needs, Cooper Complete supplements for Joint HealthEye HealthHair, Skin and Nail Healthor Sleep Health can be added. All Cooper Complete products are physician formulated and are safe to take in any combination.
