How It Helps
Melatonin has been shown to help regulate sleep/wake cycles, support normal immune function and protect cells from free radical damage.† At night or in the dark, the body’s melatonin production rises, but the amount produced declines from adolescence until it is virtually absent in older adults. Quick Release Melatonin supplement is recommended for individuals who have difficulty falling asleep but can stay asleep.† Specifically designed for those who need help going to sleep, this Melatonin Quick Release supplement releases 3 mg of melatonin quickly over a short period.†
The leading cause of fatigue is poor sleep. Quality of sleep and quantity of sleep are to blame for most cases of fatigue. The National Sleep Foundation recommends seven to nine hours per night for adults to feel rested and function at maximum capacity during the day. (Adults 65 years and older need seven to eight hours of sleep per night.) In reality, most American adults get between five and six hours of sleep per night, and some get even less. The amount of time you sleep at night is extremely important for feeling well-rested.
Researchers found that melatonin supplementation reduces the number of days needed to establish a normal sleep pattern in several human studies. For example, travelers took melatonin on the day of travel (close to the target bedtime of the destination) and for several days thereafter. Looking at several studies on the impact of melatonin and jet lag, melatonin seemed to benefit about half the people studied.
Many people maintain one sleep schedule Sunday through Thursday night and another one Friday and Saturday night. Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome (DSPS) is the scientific term for delayed weekend sleep patterns or the difficulty that many people experience each Sunday night trying to get back onto their “weeknight” sleep schedule after staying up much later on Friday and Saturday evenings. One study showed the time taken to fall asleep was reduced from almost 60 minutes to a few seconds over 20 minutes by individuals given melatonin supplements.
Several human studies have found that taking quick-release melatonin before bedtime reduces the time it takes to fall asleep in elderly adults with insomnia and improves sleep quality and morning alertness. But unfortunately, the studies were short.
Unlike many prescription sleep aids, quick-release melatonin doesn’t increase drowsiness or have a “hangover” effect the following day. However, there have been reports of vivid dreams. Because melatonin is a hormone, testosterone and estrogen metabolism may be affected. For this same reason, pregnant women or couples attempting to conceive should not take melatonin.

I did not like this product. I felt very groggy and out of it the next day. I will not buy it again. I wish you would make a 1.5 mg and maybe I would try it again.
