Omega-3 supplements from fish oil are most commonly in the ethyl ester form. The fish oil in Cooper Complete Advanced Omega-3 Liquid supplement is in the triglyceride (TG) form, as studies have shown triglyceride oils are better absorbed by the body, especially when taken on an empty stomach.

Chemically, triglycerides are three fatty acids connected to a glycerol backbone. To put it in simple terms, triglycerides are the omega-3 fats found naturally in animal and plant species, including fish. This bioidentical triglyceride form allows for enhanced absorption and better bodily assimilation.

How to Use:

As a dietary supplement, take one (1) teaspoon (5 mL) daily with a meal or as directed by your health care professional. Each teaspoon contains 1.3 grams of EPA, 850 mg DHA and 175 mg DPA. DPA stands for docosapentaenoic acid, an intermediate between EPA and DHA that collects in the liver, breast, eyes, brain, heart tissues and red blood cells. Each bottle contains 30 servings.

How It Helps

Advanced Omega-3 Liquid Fish Oil supplement is a molecularly distilled, high-potency fish oil sourced from wild-caught anchovies. Omega-3 supplements and the long-chain omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic  (EPA) and docosapentaenoic (DHA) are some of the most studied nutrients globally. An “essential” fatty acid, the body needs omega-3s for optimal health, but cannot produce them, so they must be consumed through diet or supplementation.

Supports Cardiovascular Health

  • Omega-3s support healthy heart rhythm and decrease the risk of abnormal heartbeats, called arrhythmia, which can lead to sudden death.
  • Research published in the International Journal for Vitamin and Nutrition Research found that participants who consumed 760 mg EPA and 440 mg DHA per day for 12 weeks reduced triglycerides by 23 percent.†
  • Omega-3 fatty acids slow atherosclerosis, a disease characterized by a fatty buildup of plaque in the arteries.
  • Omega-3 fatty acids support healthy blood pressure†.
  • Omega-3 fatty acids promote blood vessel relaxation and reduce the risk of blood clots and vascular inflammation.

Mood Support

Omega-3 fatty acids don’t seem to impact mild depression particularly, but after reviewing studies that used 1,000 mg to 6,000 mg of EPA and DHA, the studies with a 60 percent or greater concentration of EPA showed significant improvements in moderate and major depression. The International Society for Nutritional Psychiatry Research issued guidelines in 2019 stating that in adults with major depressive disorder omega-3 supplements can accelerate the effects of an antidepressant when started at the same time as the antidepressant, as well as enhance the effects of an antidepressant when the results have been inadequate. The supplement recommendations are 1 to 2 grams (1000-2000 IU) per day for at least 8 weeks of either 100 percent EPA or a combination of EPA and DHA, where the ratio is 2:1.

Supports Cognitive Function and Development

  • Omega-3 fatty acids are also good for brain health and cognition. A symptom of omega-3 deficiency may be mood imbalances.
  • The Omega-3 fatty acid subcommittee, assembled by the Committee on Research on Psychiatric Treatments of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), recommends adults eat fish two or more times per week, and patients with mood, impulse control or psychotic disorders consume one gram (1,000 milligrams) EPA + DHA (combined) per day.
  • While fish oil supplementation has generally not been shown to prevent depression, it may help lessen existing depression when taken

Do Omega 3 and CoQ10 do many of the same things. Why take both?

A:

CoQ10 and Omega 3 both contain essential nutrients your body needs to function properly. However, they have different functions.   CoQ10 is a powerful antioxidant the body uses to produce energy in the mitochondria (cellular level). CoQ10 helps support heart health by providing the cellular energy the heart needs. CoQ10 levels can decrease with age or with the use of statins. This decrease in production can cause muscle aches and pains, and CoQ10 supplements are often taken to relieve these symptoms.

Omega-3s are one of the most well-researched nutrients on the market, with more than 30,000 published studies exploring its various benefits. Most widely known to provide heart health benefits, research shows omega-3 fatty acids support good health in a wide variety of ways, including brain, eye, sleep, skin, and gut health, as well as effectiveness at reducing inflammation, depression, anxiety, and the risk of certain types of cancer.†

Does this product need to be refrigerated after opening?

Advanced Omega-3 Liquid can be stored at room temperature. Our ability to taste flavors is diminished by foods/drinks that are colder. If you are someone who struggles with taste, it’s not a bad idea to store this omega-3 fatty acid in the refrigerator to minimize the flavors.

Q:

I already eat a lot of fish. Should I take this omega-3 supplement?

A:

We follow a food-first philosophy and offer supplements to augment shortfalls in healthy eating. If you eat four or more servings of fatty types of fish per week – such as salmon, trout, sardines or mackerel – you may not need additional omega-3 in your diet.

Is consuming Cooper Complete Advanced Omega-3 supplements safe if I suffer from atrial fibrillation?

A:

Yes. Omega-3 fatty acids are terrific for heart health. Studies indicate that omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of sudden cardiac death by stabilizing the heart’s rhythm.

I’m allergic to shellfish. Can I take it?

A:

Because the fish in Cooper Complete Advanced Omega-3 Liquid fish oil is sourced from wild anchovies, it does not contain any shellfish.

Q:

I take the blood thinner Eliquis. Is it safe to take Omega 3?

A:

If you are taking an anticoagulant, discuss with your healthcare provider what is best for you before adding Omega 3 or any supplements to your routine. Omega 3 may interact with drugs that affect blood clotting and, rarely, may increase the risk of bleeding when combined with medications that can also cause bleeding.

Q:

I’m afraid to take liquid omega because “liquid fish oil” sounds terrible! What does this product taste like?

A:

Amazingly, this product tastes like mangos. While it’s not so delicious that you’ll be tempted to pour the entire bottle over ice and have it as a beverage, it is completely palatable and frankly astounding when considering how much EPA, DHA, and DPA omega-3 fatty acids are in one tiny measured teaspoonful of liquid! We challenge you to get out your kitchen measuring spoon and try it. We think it’s fine to take directly off the spoon, and even a half teaspoon provides more than 1 gram (1000 mg) of omega-3 fatty acids (650 mg EPA and 425 mg DHA). However, this supplement would also taste good in a fruit smoothy or in a vanilla-flavored protein shake. Just remember to consume all of the smoothie or shake soon after making it, as oxidation is the enemy of all omega-3s, particularly liquid ones.
